AAAneurysm Outreach Founder Named “Health Care Hero”
AAAneurysm Outreach founder Sheila Arrington has been named one of 50 Health Care Heroes in the New Orleans area.
The South Louisiana native lost her 58-year old father to a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm and later discovered a total of ten family members affected by AAA. She founded AAAneurysm Outreach to help provide lifesaving information to people who are at risk. As of last year, AAAneurysm Outreach had provided free screenings to more than 10,000 eligible, at risk participants, resulting in 299 aortic dilations/AAA discoveries. This means 246 men and 52 women were perhaps saved by this knowledge.
New Orleans CityBusiness has created this award to honor outstanding men and women in the health care industry whose contributions have increased the well-being of the community. Honorees will be feted at a May 15 luncheon, and recognized in the May 29 publication.
